SII Group Environmental Policy
SII LCD Device is implementing the energy-saving actions, the reduction of waste, the reduction of hazardous materials,
the effective use of paper resources and the development of environmental friendly products based on the SII Group Environmental Policy.
Six Specific Actions to Protect the Environment from SII LCD Device
1. Energy Saving
♣Energy Saving in Manufacturing Process
Our factories, which manufacture our products, are implementing energy saving procedures in their manufacturing process.
♣Energy Saving through Low Power Consumption
By design, LCD Device is an energy saving product. We are continuously improving. Our products for lower current consumption, resulting in further energy saving.
2. Recycle Materials to Reduce Waste Generated
Our factories recycle the glass, which is the main material of LCD Device. In addition, our factories recycle the etcing liquid and water used in manufacturing. We encourage our customers to recycle the packing materials back to us for re-use. Even at our administration offi ces, we recycle paper and sort our wastes correctly.
3. Chemical Materials Management
We have been an industry leader to stop the use of ozone-layer depletion materials : We discontinued,
- specifi c fl uorine in August 1992 ;
- Trichloroethane in November 1993 ;
- organic chloride solvents in March 1999 ;
- alternative fl uorine HCFC-141b (a global warming factor gas) in March 2000.
continuously review our processes to reduce chemical materials which are harmful to our global environment.
4. Manufacturing an Environmentally Friendly Product
Evaluating environmental impact is part of our culture. Before adopting new materials or processes, we make sure the material or process is not using any prohibited or restricted materials.
5.Our Efforts toward Environmental Regulations
We have switched to Pb-free solder in our mounting process of our products.(started March 2004)
Our current products comply with the RoHS directives*1 issued in Europe.
Also, we address Halogen free products and manufacture the compliant products.
*1 The RoHS Directive stands for:
[ The Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment ]
This is a directive which the EU (European Union) set for the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic device and equipment,
and it was issued in February 2003 together with the WEEE Directive. Accordingly, the directive has banned the use of the certain 6 substances in EU member nations since July 2006.
6. Green Purchase
We promote "Green Purchase" along with "Green Purchase Guideline" . These are two innovative programsestablished by SII Group.
