| Site Introduction |
Since the establishment in December 1989, as a member of the SII Group, Dalian Seiko Instruments Inc. (DSI) has been continuously addressing the improvement of environment. In June 2001, we obtained ISO 14001 certification. Based on the consistent environmental management, including pollution prevention, continuous improvement, and compliance, we have been striving to improve a wide range of factors that could impact on environment.
Activity Examples:
1. Proactive participation in public-interest activities that would enhance employees environmental conservation awareness.
- Participated in the cleanup of public places sponsored by the Environmental Protection Bureau.
- On June 5, 2005, (World Environmental Day), 50 DSI employees participated in the large-scale public-interest event sponsored by the Dalian Government and the Environmental Protection Bureau.
2. Internal improvement activities
- By introducing oil separators, increased the recycling rate of the cutting oil and reduced the use of new oil.
- Remodeled the waterproof and underground seepage prevention of the watch plant's sludge place.
- Replaced the watch plant's coolers in 2004, and the refrigerant from R12 to HFC407C.
- During winter, zero operation of air conditioners at the machine shops was achieved by using outside air to adjust room temperature. In addition, energy consumption was reduced by removing air conditioners from rooms that are not in use.
3. Social Evaluation
- Evaluated highly for our effective control and improvement of the environmental management index, and awarded by the Dalian Environmental Protection Bureau as an environmental-protection model company 2005.
- By achieving the environmental contaminant management index defined by the Dalian Environmental Protection Bureau, DSI’s Industrial Complex Plant passed "Environmental Impact Assessment" on July 13, 2006.
- In December 2006, passed the first "clean production of coating" assessment which targeted 23 Dalian companies. In addition, on behalf of 23 companies, we presented our clean production strategies.

By defining our environmental policy as using resources and energy efficiently, preventing environmental pollution, and respecting and protecting the earth humankind live in, we strive to achieve sustainable development. As a result, we promote;
- enhancing our environmental conservation activities as a company while implementing education and training for all employees steadily, improving environmental conservation awareness, and ensuring full compliance with laws and regulations,
- strengthening our pollutant treatability by reducing pollutants from manufacturing processes as much as possible, and fully utilizing resources for our products, activities and services for continuous improvement and contamination prevention across the board.

Dalian Seiko Instruments Inc. (DSI) performs energy-saving activities to detail not only at manufacturing facilities but also in daily life such as at washrooms and cafeteria. The heat source was changed in FY2010; solar-powered water heaters were introduced at some washrooms.

- Promote the efficiency of compressors' operation to reduce electricity use (install pressure regulators in pneumatic piping).
