Under the definitive agreement on the establishment of new semiconductor business company, business transfer, and share transfer concluded on September 8, 2015, Seiko Instruments Inc. (President: Hitoshi Murakami, Head Office: Chiba-shi, Chiba; hereinafter “SII”), a subsidiary of Seiko Holdings Corporation (President: Yoshinobu Nakamura, Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; hereinafter “SHD”), and Development Bank of Japan Inc. (President & CEO: Masanori Yanagi, Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; hereinafter “DBJ”) today announced the completion of the joint investment by SII and DBJ for and the commencement of operation of SII Semiconductor Corporation (hereinafter “SII Semiconductor”) established on September 28, 2015.

In order to achieve future sustainable growth in the semiconductor market, which is under growing competitive pressure on a global level, SII Semiconductor aims to become a business entity being ranked among the world’s top five in the analog semiconductor industry by availing itself of DBJ’s extensive network and know-how in the field of M&A strategy. In addition, the new company strives to enhance manufacturing capability as well as its development function for semiconductor products including power management ICs, sensor ICs, and EEPROMs, featuring low-current consumption, low-voltage operation, and ultra-small package technologies that have been honed in the SII’s well-established history.
