Privacy Notice based on the Act on the Protection of Personal Information of Japan
The governing language of this notice shall be Japanese.

Seiko Instruments Inc. and its subsidiary companies in Japan (collectively “SII Group”) describe the matters concerning handling of Personal Information, including the matter relating to retained personal data stipulated by Act on the Protection of Personal Information of Japan, as follows.
1.Collection of Personal Information
SII Group acquire personal information by appropriate means. However, explicit disclosure of the purpose of use may be omitted if the purpose of use is clear from the situation in which the information is provided. SII Group asks customers under sixteen (16) years old to provide personal information only upon guardian’s or parent’s consent.
2.Use of Personal Information
2-1 SII Group uses customers’ personal information only within the scope necessary for the achievement of the following purposes except with prior consent of person who have supplied the personal information (“the Principal”) or as provided by laws and regulations.

2-2 SII Group will not use Personal Information in a way that may encourage or induce illegal or improper conduct.

5. Provision of Personal Data to Third Parties
If any of the following apply, SII Group may provide Personal Data to a third party. However, provided, that when the third party is located outside of Japan, the clause 6 is applied.
(1) Cases in which prior consent has been received from the data subject.
(2) Cases in which SII Group entrusts the handling of Personal Data in whole or in part within the scope necessary for the achievement of the purpose purposes described in clause 2-1. In such case, SII Group will conclude an agreement with the contractor on the handling of Personal Data at the time of disclosure or provision and provide supervision to ensure an appropriate control over personal.
(3) Cases in which the provision of Personal Data based on the Shared Use described in clause 4” Shared Use of Personal Data”.
Personal Data(4) Cases in which Personal Data is provided as a result of the succession of business in a merger, company split, business transfer or otherwise.
(5) Cases in which the provision of Personal Data is based on laws and regulations.
(6) Cases in which the provision of Personal Data is necessary for the protection of the life, body, or property of an individual and in which it is difficult to obtain the consent of the data subject.
(7) Cases in which the handling of Personal Data is especially necessary for improving public health or promoting the sound growth of children and in which it is difficult to obtain the consent of the data subject.
(8) Cases in which the Personal Data is necessary for cooperating with a state organ, a local government, or an individual or a business operator entrusted by either of the former two in executing the affairs prescribed by laws and regulations and in which obtaining the consent of the person is likely to impede the execution of the affairs concerned.
If any of the following apply, SII Group may provide Personal Data to a third party. However, provided, that when the third party is located outside of Japan, the clause 6 is applied.

6. Provision of Personal Data to Third Parties Located Outside Japan
SII Group provides Personal Data to third parties located outside Japan with prior consent from the data subject after informing them of the fact that the third party is located outside Japan, except in either of the following cases prescribed by laws and regulations:
(a) when the third party is located in a country specified by laws and regulations as one that has a Personal Information protection system equivalent to Japan’s; or
(b) when the third party has a system in place where it can continuously take measures corresponding to those that business operators handling Personal Data in Japan should take.
In the case of (b) above, SII Group will take necessary and appropriate measures to ensure that the third party takes the proper measures on an ongoing basis.
If you wish to know the details of the measures, please make a request in accordance with clause 8.
SII Group provides Personal Data to third parties located outside Japan with prior consent from the data subject after informing them of the fact that the third party is located outside Japan, except in either of the following cases prescribed by laws and regulations:
(a) when the third party is located in a country specified by laws and regulations as one that has a Personal Information protection system equivalent to Japan’s; or
(b) when the third party has a system in place where it can continuously take measures corresponding to those that business operators handling Personal Data in Japan should take.
In the case of (b) above, SII Group will take necessary and appropriate measures to ensure that the third party takes the proper measures on an ongoing basis.
If you wish to know the details of the measures, please make a request in accordance with clause 8.
7. Security Control Measures
SII Group takes necessary and proper measures for Personal Information handled by SII Group to for the prevention of leakage, loss, or damage, and for other security control of the Personal Information, including the following measures.
▪ We have appointed a person responsible for handling Personal Information, and have established a reporting system to respond promptly and appropriately in the event of the occurrence or its possibility of an incident such as a Personal Data leak.
▪ We regularly train our employees regarding the proper handling of Personal Information.
▪ We implement security measures such as appropriate access control and measures to prevent unauthorized persons from viewing Personal Data.
▪ When we entrust a third party located outside Japan to handle Personal Data, we will understand the systems for protecting Personal Information in that country and implement necessary and appropriate measures for safe management.
8. Request of Disclosure, Correction or Suspension of Use of Retained Personal Data
If you wish to request to disclosure, correction and deletion, addition, discontinuance of use, erasure, or information provision concerning the Personal Data protection measures referred to in clause 6 and clause 7 (collectively “disclosure, etc.”) with regard to the retained Personal Data held by SII Group, please make a request in accordance with the following method.
SII Group will implement the disclosure, etc. requested by the customers according to the laws and regulations, within a reasonable timeframe and scope, after confirming that the request was submitted by the data subject or a legitimate agent of the data subject. However, if the laws or regulations allows us to withhold the disclosure, etc., we may not response as you requested.
SII Group promptly informs the data subject of the response SII Group will take to the request of disclosure, etc., and make reasonable efforts to explain a reason therefor to the data subject if the disclosure, etc. will not be taken or a different action from the request will be taken.

After confirming that you are the data subject or a legitimate agent of the data subject, we will reply to you in writing or in an appropriate manner on which customers and SII Group agree. The details for the procedure will be provided after the inquiry form is submitted.
